POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller for Urban Remedy, reporting directly to the CFO, will be a key member of the Finance Team, and will assume an important role in the overall development and growth of the company. The Controller will be responsible for establishing and maintaining routines and controls that verify the integrity of all financial systems, processes, and financial data, and enhance the company's decision making capbilities.
The ideal candidate must have strong background in both public and private accounting, have solid FP&A, Cost and Inventory Accounting, and Plant/Manufacturing Accounting experience, be knowledgeable about CPG business models and aspire to be a thought leader. The ideal candidate is also data and technology-centric, and is comfortable working in a small company where there is pressure to move quickly, change priorities and take on large projects. The Controller should be excited about taking on a hands-on leadership role, creating reliable processes and routines to ensure continued company-wide growth and value creation over the next few years. A desire to solve problems and bring about solutions to a growing business is a must.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for all aspects of the general ledger, including revenue and expense recognition, inventory, payroll, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, etc.
- Oversee the preparation of GAAP financial statements and audit-friendly supporting schedules.
- Oversee weekly cash management and vendor payment process
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reporting packages for management and investors.
- Oversee all tax reporting and filings for the company, including federal and state income tax, quarterly sales tax, and other filings as necessary.
- Maintain day-to-day management of the company’s insurance policies.
- Monitor new accounting and financial reporting guidance, evaluate potential impact to the company, and make recommendations as necessary.
- Create and maintain a well-organized financial data and document warehouse.
- Measure and analyze operational and financial performance metrics, dashboards and scorecards. Provide meaningful insights on operational performance.
- Interpret and ensure that both Company and financial policies and procedures are understood and consistently followed by others. Develop additional procedures as needed to provide sufficient internal control environment.
- Safeguard the assets of the Company by ensuring the availability of accurate and timely financial and accounting records compliant with GAAP and other relevant standards.

- – 8 years’ in both public and private accounting; large accounting firm and/or large bank experience preferred.A

- xperience in general ledger closes in a cost accounting environment, preferably in a multi-location process manufacturing environment. Food manufacturing experience is a plus. Experience in inventory strongly preferred.S

ORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDST
his position is primarily remote, but must available for periodic in person meetings and to supervise inventories etc. in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position works in a standard office environment with extended use of the computer/ keyboarding and sitting, as well as use of other office equipment such as phone and copier.
