Hanko plant in Finland is producing a variety of sustainable enzyme products for Home & Personal Care, Animal Nutrition and Food Enzymes markets.
We are looking for a proactive and problem-solving PROCESS AUTOMATION ENGINEER who believes that working together is the way to solve challenges and accomplish common goals.
In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our process automation system, both software and hardware, to ensure that our production processes are safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
You will be part of an experienced team of IFF colleagues and specialists working across various areas of enzyme production at the Hanko plant, with connections to other sites both locally and globally.

Your core responsibilities:
- Use your programming skills to automate the site production and auxiliary processes, through work requests and project work, according to expectations (time, quality, cost)
- Take responsibility for resolving day-to-day automation and process control issues in collaboration with process engineers, maintenance and area coordinators
- Continuously improve the standardization of automation work and collaborate proactively within the automation group to follow automation and programming principles
- Stay up to date with automation safety engineering principles (alarms, safety interlocks) and implement where necessary
- Update automation manuals and other documentation (e.g., functional descriptions, ISO procedures)
- Provide automation training for production personnel (process technicians, maintenance and area coordinators)
- Assist in applying software updates for automation systems (Valmet DNA) and other specific software (e.g. OSI PI)
- Assist in critical hardware renewals (servers, controllers and networks)
Qualifications:
- Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in automation or equivalent engineering field
- Previous working experience preferably from bio process/chemical industry
- Understanding of process control strategies
- Excellent IT skills (profound knowledge of MS Excel and Word), knowledge of SAP is an advantage
- Fluent oral and written skills in both Finnish and English are required
- Able to work on-site at Hanko plant, Finland
Knowledge of Valmet DNA, industrial scale data communication buses, instrument networks and automation hardware is considered as an advantage. Experience in Profinet network design and IO-Link data communication is preferrable.
