We’re hiring a Material Planner at our Totowa, NJ plant. You will report directly to the Material Planning Manager. In this role, you will communicate with suppliers, monitor inventory levels, and facilitate the flow of materials within the supply chain. As our next Material Planner, you will be responsible for implementing material requirements planning (MRP) to support optimal production scheduling and operational efficiency. You will ensure required material is on-hand to promote on-time and in-full (OTIF) product shipments. In addition, you will be responsible for managing an array of material categories, such as conventional, packaging and/or bulk materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze raw materials requirements and place purchase orders in accordance with requirements and inventory initiatives.
- Coordinate the flow of Bulk/Packaging materials to ensure that orders are processed and delivered on time.
- Ensure POs are acknowledged and confirmed in a timely fashion, and dates maintained in SAP.
- Analyze inventory minimums, MOQs, and lead times accounting for demand changes, warehouse capacity, business initiatives, and supplier competencies.
- Collaborate with production, scheduling and warehousing teams to understand material needs and adjust orders to align with production schedules and support efficiency and on-time and in-full product delivery.
- Escalate to Procurement ongoing supplier noncompliance, missing pricing, contract extensions, needed minimum order quantity changes, along with short-notice needs due to shifts in demand.
- Communicate material constraints and possible mitigation strategies to prompt schedule changes and notification of potential service risks.
- Engage in weekly Supply Chain/Procurement meetings, including necessary preparation to make calls as efficient as possible.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules, track shipments (with the necessary paperwork), and resolve any issues related to material quality or delays.
- Coordinate with Logistics on all collect supplier pick-ups.
- Address discrepancies (i.e., payment, credits) as communicated by Accounting.
- Escalate potential obsolescence and perform root cause analysis.
- Analyze raw material inventory health and create action plans for raw material that are set to expire. Coordinate with necessary departments to forgo obsolescence.
- Identify opportunities for improving processes related to raw materials and expediting.
- Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
- Maintain positive attitude. Focus on the customer, teamwork, and quality productivity.
- Give recommendations to work safe, efficient, and better serve the customer.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or Management.
- Three plus (3+) years of working experience in supply chain and operations.
- Experience with ERP Systems (i.e., OMP, SAP) – MRP, Inventory Management, Planning/Scheduling.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with strong emphasis in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Problem-solving skills to address supply chain challenges effectively.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Purchasing experience in the Food Industry preferable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are frequently exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. Production/Warehouse areas are dusty.
- Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
