The Procurement Category Manager is responsible for sourcing assigned categories for North American sites. You will explore, develop, and execute on category strategies while engaging with supplier base and internal cross-functional teams. You will be accountable for costs savings ideation and delivering against individual, department and company annual targets.
Responsibilities
- Understand market dynamics within assigned categories and the impact of price volatility on business performance.
- Develop, recommend and execute procurement strategies for assigned categories
- Take an active role and work with internal stakeholders
- Provide market price updates and relative market intelligence information to internal stakeholders
- Maintain contracts and commitments in a timely manner to understand financial exposure
- Identify and implement cost savings opportunities within the total supply chain of assigned categories
- Develop, recommend and submit annual budget numbers for assigned categories and monthly updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in economics, food industry, business or related disciplines. MS/MBA advanced degree preferred
- 4+ years’ experience in procurement/supply chain function within consumer packaged goods or food industry
- Understanding of markets and the supply/demand fundamentals that make up price risk management, price movement and risk to the business
- Previous experience with accounting practices and the effects of hedging on COGS
- Ability to partner with cross-functional teams to champion change and work in a cross functional matrix environment
- Experience with complex procurement strategies: understand, communicate, present and execute
- Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of contract management and resolution procedures
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Travel 5-10%
