Global Legal and Compliance Internship
About The Role.
We are looking for an Intern to join our global legal and compliance team supporting our business in North America for a 12-week period starting in May 2025. This position will be based out of our global headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.
We seek a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support several initiatives for the global legal and compliance team, which are foundational to our department's mandate. As part of a small, high-performing team focused on privacy and compliance globally, you will play a critical role in managing and executing various projects and initiatives.
This position will work a hybrid schedule, with three days a week in the Toronto, Ontario office.
Accountabilities
The following items are components from various compliance projects that this position may support:
Support the development and implementation of annual code of conduct recertification training.
Collaborate with team members to create new scenarios for training that are engaging and relevant to our business and legal requirements.
Develop and deliver materials and training for Compliance Week.
Create innovative and engaging ways to communicate legal concepts, including videos, podcasts, songs, quizzes, and lunch-and-learn sessions.
Produce additional materials such as guides and checklists.
Contribute to the development and deployment of a third-party screening process for vendors and suppliers.
Conduct investigative work to verify the identities of individuals and companies flagged in screening reports.
Develop and manage registries using PowerApps and Microsoft Forms, including Gifts and Entertainment and Trade Association registries and support training creation for these registries.
Assist in developing a series of lectures and workshops to improve the quality and consistency of investigations.
Qualifications
Working towards a Bachelor’s (law degree (BCL, LL.B., or JD) preferred, but other law-related programs of study will be considered)
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Possess a professional, detail-oriented, and honest work ethic, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Skills
Strong understanding of compliance and privacy laws and policies.
Creative approach to developing training and engagement materials.
Excellent research and investigative skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in HR preferred, ideally before attending law school.
Proficiency in PowerApps and Microsoft Forms.
Skills in video editing would be an asset, particularly using Adobe Premiere Pro.

This position is part of the Global Legal and Compliance team, a high-performing team of 3 lawyers focused on privacy and compliance, based in Canada and Europe. This role will be located in Toronto, where the department head and one other compliance lawyer are based

Hybrid
Compensation Package: $23.00 - $26.00 CAD hourly
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
