Unleash your creativity as a Senior Scientist - PhD in Organic Chemistry at IFF!
Specific responsibilities:
Design and implementation of novel synthetic routes and study key organic chemistry transformations aiming to improve by following green chemistry principles, the quality, yield, process safety and/or reduce production cost of fragrance ingredients. Such approaches may consist of the evaluation of alternative raw materials and/or new product intermediates, catalysts, implement or develop novel chemical transformations and/or reaction technologies to additionally reinforce and expand internal intellectual property landscape.
Perform thoroughly bibliography searches, elaborate innovative research and working plans on assigned projects while balancing time, resources, and risks.
Plan, describe and perform experimental procedures with the support of laboratory assistants. Analyze and summarize data and results in technical and informational documents that describe research program highlights, accomplishments, activities, and potential areas of improvement.
To accomplish the above, the successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills in addition to rigorous scientific thinking, being aware of new advances and trends in synthetic organic chemistry and a proven track record of successfully solving complex problems in synthetic chemistry programs.
Requirements:
PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
Fluent and Proficient in English.
Candidates must have 2 to 3 years relevant full time industrial and/or academic experience within R&D in manufacturing industries (Fragrance Ingredients, Fine Chemicals or Pharma) or in Academic Institutions in small molecule synthesis design & execution and characterization.
Proven track record of accomplishments in published works (ie. research articles, reviews, communications, book chapters or patent applications)
Technical skills:
Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of organic chemistry in synthesis design and retrosynthetic analysis of complex organic molecules, chemical transformations and reactivity, catalysis, kinetics, analytical, and purification.
Deep knowledge in the use of analytical instrumentation and data interpretation (HPLC, GC, MS, NMR and IR) is essential for this position.
Experience with combinatorial/parallel chemistry equipment and working routines will be positively considered. Further skills in emerging technologies and/or data handling such as Flow Chemistry, use of High-throughput equipment for synthesis and analysis, Biocatalysis, Design of Experiments will be positively considered.
