Job Description
Oobli is searching for a Head of Quality Assurance. This hire will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will collaborate closely with technical and business leaders across Oobli to ensure that new sweet protein ingredients and direct-to-consumer products meet all required quality standards. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player in a new-business environment where new products are being commercialized rapidly. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust quality practices are implemented for a range of exciting new sweet protein ingredients, as well as direct-to-consumer products.
Role & Responsibilities
- Ensure Oobli products meet all product quality requirements, and are manufactured safely with appropriate food-safe cGMP methods
- Develop and implement a Quality Management System to support a range of Oobli products
- Collaborate with internal and external Manufacturing and Quality Control personnel to drive development of Quality Management System and culture of continuous improvement
- Provide training and guidance as needed to enable and support Quality Management System
- Hire and manage Quality personnel as needed to support increasing commercial needs
- Qualify external manufacturing sites and raw material suppliers to ensure food-safe cGMP manufacturing of Oobli sweet protein ingredients and direct-to-consumer products
- Support customer engagement with development and maintenance of all needed product quality documentation, and support audit requests as needed
- Collaborate with internal analytical chemistry and QC personnel to qualify external laboratories for QC testing of sweet protein ingredients and direct-to-consumer products.
- Support regulatory approval for new food ingredients, identify and engage expert consultants to guide regulatory strategy as needed
Required Professional Experience & Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Nutrition or a related field
- 10+ years of experience within quality management; 5+ years of experience acting as a quality assurance leader
- Depth of experience in development of Quality Management Systems, preferably with experience building new Quality Management Systems
- Depth of experience assuring compliance with food grade cGMPs by collaboration with manufacturing teams and regulatory agencies
- Significant experience participating in / leading HACCP reviews
- Experience obtaining / maintaining quality system certification to meet ISO guidelines
- Experience obtaining regulatory guidance from expert consultants as needed
- Ideal candidate will have deep experience in Quality Control, including experience validating HPLC methods and testing product stability rigorously
- Exceptional candidates will have depth of experience driving regulatory approvals for novel food ingredients
