We have a strong team of scientists with deep knowledge of mammalian and microalgae cell cultivation. Now, we’re looking for a new colleague to lead our microalgae research and innovation efforts.
What we need from you 💻
You’re a passionate and experienced microalgae expert, ready to lead a small but ambitious R&D program and work at the intersection of biotechnology and food innovation. You’ll develop and optimize cultivation systems, guide experimental design, and help us unlock the full potential of algae in cultivated meat.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and coordinate microalgae research and development projects
- Optimize cultivation techniques, media composition, and environmental conditions
- Manage and operate different cultivation systems: photobioreactors (PBRs), open ponds, flat panels, tubular systems
- Oversee biomass harvesting and downstream processing (lipids, proteins, pigments, bioactive compounds)
- Apply advanced analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, spectrophotometry, microscopy, flow cytometry)
- Ensure compliance with GLP/GMP standards and maintain lab safety and quality systems
- Plan and execute experimental strategies, interpret data, and prepare reports
- Manage equipment procurement and maintenance
- Oversee lab documentation, data management, and protocol development
Who we’re looking for:
- Ph.D. (or MSc with extensive experience) in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in microalgae research or industrial-scale production
- Deep understanding of microalgal physiology, cultivation, and optimization
- Strong background in laboratory and project management
- English-speaking scientist with excellent communication skills
- Skilled in planning, budgeting, and scientific documentation
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners
